I saw some same fouls Spain made and they didn't got a yellow card. Almost every foul from Holland was yellow.

You surely must be taking the pi$$ now. Same fouls? De Jong nearly decapitated Alonso and Van Bommel nearly broke Iniesta's leg.

Most people here take a side against the referee. Holland just played way too rough and didn't get what they deserved (at least 2 red cards). The opinion of most Dutch is that Webb screwed Holland cause he refused to send off Iniesta and because Webb was too easily fooled by some Spanish dives (in which you have to agree).

Not only Iniesta. Also Puyol had to get a second yellow card. He made exactly the same foul where Heitinga got a second yellow. I think Webb should also be banned as international referee. He couldn't get the game under control.

Besides that.. the pressure from the Spanish media that he screwed up the first match against Switserland. It was obvious he was taken side for Spain. No doubt about it.

Ofcourse Puyol could've been sent off as well, if Robben(?) was smart enough to dive.
At the other hand; Van Bommel, De Jong and Robben (second yellow card should've been giving for kicking the ball 10 seconds after the referee made his whistle sound once again) should also be sent off.

I really don't understand you English guys. I thought you were the 'though' boys of football with lads like Rooney, Terry, Lampard and Gerrard. But now the media is supporting Spain with all their dives and card asking players... I like to see the fouls of De Jong much better then that kind of acting. I thought England would think the same, but your country disappointed me the most in the whole tournament with football and non-football aspects. IF England would had made it to the final I would have support for them because I like the tradition of football there and the fans, but at this tournament they have lost all my respect.

I agree, I do not like the card waving and diving - but in Robben you have the King of that nonsense. I can't believe he stayed on his feet when Puyol fouled him - he was probably trying to get in the penalty area first before doing a somersault. But remember Holland should have been down to about 8 men before that happened anyway.

Webb tried to keep the game flowing and keep 11 men on the pitch - Holland should be thankful. They only have their selves to blame. Perhaps if they had tried to win the game from the start then it might have been different.

How did he kill it? If he had sent off De Jong and Van Bommel (which he should have done) then that would have killed the game and you would have lost by about 5 v 0. You should thank him for keeping them on otherwise you would have been embarrassed by the scoreline. Netherlands tactics killed their own chances.

Why isn't talking anybody about those player who also should have sent off by Webb.

But who cares. It's clear Webb didn't had the game under control. He helped Spain for not give the yellow cards they deserved. Only nobody wants to see it. Now Holland is the one who played cruell and rough. But Spain did the same thing, but Webb did nothing about that.

Don't forget the card asking every time when Van Bommel or the Jong maked a foul and ofcourse their incredible diving skills.. When Webb would have applied the rules I think it was 9 vs 1 in advantage for Holland.

Can't blame the reff in my opinion. We should have scored a goal (especially robben had the chances to do so) and than, with some luck, the spain had to continue to miss their chances..

We can't blaim him for missing the changes we get. We can blame him for the fact that Spain didn't get cards, while they made the same fouls where we got a card, and they didn't.
For example: Heitinga gets his second yellow for not even touching Iniesta. Puyol stays on, because Robben didn't fell down.
He gave advantage, but that wasn't there.. so he had to give us a free kick en send Puyol off with his second yellow.

Banana Man, you still think Robben is a diver. I think he has proven that he's not really into that anymore, especially during the past season and the world cup games. The Spanjards, on the other hand, did feel like diving. They did it all the time. Heitinga's second yellow card is a good example.
Anyway, I still think the Netherlands didn't deserve to win this final, as they were a bit too rough. Next to that Webb made some odd decisions. If he did or didn't see the supposedly red card foul of Van Bommel, or the karate-kick by De Jong, he still had a duty to not choose sides. In my opinion he did choose a side, right after he saw some footage while sipping from his tea during half-time. In the second half, we got a lot of yellow cards, but for similar tackles the spanjards got nothing. Puyol holding Robben was the most obvious yellow card, you can't disagree with that.

The fnial has the deserved winner, though Webb made some clear mistakes in favor of Spain.

Good post though Ironis and a good summary of events - although as a neutral I don't think Webb favoured the Spanish as much as you and your fellow countrymen think.
